Semi-Automatic Etching Systems

image 3

Semi-Automatic systems are suitable for those products requiring medium to high volume part-marking. The basic system consists of a pneumatic piston, etching control unit and electrolyte dosing pump delivering the fluid to the markinghead.

The operator simply loads the part, presses a footswitch and the marking is automatically completed.

The 2 main models are the FlowEtch and the ModulMat

FlowEtch semi-automatic etching system

Flowetch Compact is a high power semi-automatic marking system, capable of marking products in 1-3 seconds. Black and deep-etching is possible on a variety of metals.

The electrolyte pump delivers electrolyte to the marking head, overflowing into the basin and filtering back to the pump reservoir via plastic hosing. Upon activation of the footswitch the earthing tip descends onto the product for marking, remains for a set interval then returns, awaiting the next product.

The Flowetch Compact system recycles electrolyte, both cooling and cleaning the marking process during operation.

Included in the system is:

  • The electro-pneumatic etch stand- Conveniently adjusts both vertically and horizontally to suit various dimensions of the products
  • Support base with milled t-slots
  • Perspex overflow basin.
  • Pump and filtered reservoir system-Variable control of electrolyte feed and 5 Litre reservoir capacity. Includes electrolyte filter.
  • Footswitch- For convenient hands free activation of marking
  • Jigging- 2 individually adjustable fingers and one adjustable backstop.
  • Marking head -flat durable graphite and perspex.

The Modulmat system is a semi-automatic marking system. A versatile high powered etching control unit enables both black and deep marking on a variety of metals.

The dosing pump delivers enough electrolyte to the marking head to keep the head moist. Upon activation of the footswitch the marking head descends onto the product for marking, remains for a set interval then returns, awaiting the next product.

Included in the system is:

  • The electro-pneumatic etch stand- Conveniently adjusts both vertically and horizontally to suit various dimensions of the products
  • Support base with milled t-slots
  • Tube Pump system-Variable control of electrolyte feed.
  • Stencil Holder with adjustable axis
  • Footswitch- For convenient hands free activation of marking
  • Jigging blocks to mount into T-Slots
  • Marking head -flat durable graphite and perspex.

Etching ID tags with fixed and variable information

A new article is available explaining how to mark both fixed and variable information on stainless ID tags. This allows the customer to print his own short-run compliance and identification plates.

MagicPin budget dot-peen system

Trend Marking Systems has released a series of budget dot-peen marking systems known as MagicPin.

They are a lower-cost alternative to the standard Pinmark range as they are manufactured without expansion opportunities like loading/deloading mechanisms or 3rd-axis rotation marking.

As such - German-made quality is not lessened but price is lower!

4700 Ink released

The new 4700 ink has been released for the EVOLUTION-1 inkjet systems, featuring a dry-time of 1-3 seconds on materials such as metal and plastic.

This ink lets this sub-2K printer handle applications traditionally reserved for expensive continuous inkjet printers (CIJ) while reducing consumable cost and maintenance.

Printing Glass Bases

Trend's Hot QuickCoder was successful in providing a solution to print on the base of glass jars with a use-by date.

The application is manual - an operator loading the jars into a basic jig - with the HQC unit printing from underneath on the slightly domed base with a white colour.

Egg carton printing

Trend have installed multiple Evolution inkjet printers to replace old labelling machines.

Evolution inkjets were chosen because of their low purchase cost (14 printing heads were required) and low operating cost (high-volume but low-cost products) as well as simplicity of installation and excellent reliability.
